Description
Allllll Right!!!!!
Let's get it started!
This print, for some unknown reason, is the most hit-upon, favorite, of all of the prints I had in my previous account.
I would like YOU to tell me why???
Do you guys really just love Orcs that much?
Should I do nothing but draw Orcs?
Ha ha!
Anyway - I'm a huge fantasy fan, and actually have my own fantasy, high fantasy, comic in pre-development stages, going on years now actually. But a diamond is not created overnight. So, patience.
But I digress. Here we have a nice little troupe of Orcs, their confidence fed by the Shaman in their midst and that nasty looking winged Orc Demon thing in the background with that hideously rune painted leather face mask on - inspired by all the little nasties my monthly DM pits us against, by the way.
So, when building a piece like this, you MUST be aware of tangents. If you don't know what tangents are, then get to know them, and get used to avoiding them at all costs. Go here for technicals: [link]
What I wanted to do with this piece is depict several characters with obvious commonality, but with distinct characterization. I leaned heavily on their selected armor, or lack thereof, to convey each character type.
Basically, they're all Orcs - they all look alike without their armor, without their haircuts, etc.
But, I used this as a challenge to show totally identical subjects in various moods, outfitting, and stylizing to achieve character variation.
Hope you like it
